Introducing Acumen
Imagine a podcast, but with video - and not just blurry Zoom screen recording either, but filmed in a purpose-built studio in Elstree, the renowned film and television production town just outside of London (home to The Voice, Strictly Come Dancing, The Crown, The Chase, The King’s Speech and Star Wars).
It would be kind of like a talk show.
But instead of playing it on television, it would be available for free on YouTube. And in audio-format across podcasting platforms, so that people could listen or watch at their own convenience.
I’d call that a digital talk show.
So that’s what I decided to host.
What is Acumen about?
Leadership, Business and Marketing.
Acumen means “the ability to make good judgements and take quick decisions”. It’s something that any leader needs. Some people seem to be “born” with it, but I don’t believe that’s true – having shrewd acumen is a way of thinking, analysing and approaching the world. Many of us are raised with it, many of us develop it over time through trial-and-error.
Who is it for?
Leaders and Future Leaders. That means CEOs, Directors, Managers, Founders and Entrepreneurs… but also students, graduates and young people looking to get a head-start by learning from the best.
The Pillars of Acumen
Actionable – Everything we talk about should be grounded in reality – you should be able to go out and do it. It might not be overnight, but there will be results. Nothing should be so wishy-washy that it’s not practical.
Intellectual – Everything we talk about should make logical sense – we’re going to challenge assumptions and test new ideas. We look at real case studies to see what worked or didn’t and more importantly, why.
Accessible – If we’re not sharing with as many people as possible, we may as well keep it private. We want every Leader, Entrepreneur and Marketer to be able to access the show in their way.
